Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Business Optimal for Novell NetWare is a unique anti-virus solution with the network management system based on ConsoleOne and completely integrated into the Novell Directory Service (NDS). The program is a loadable module (NLM) for file and application servers running Novell NetWare that effectively controls all file operations on a server.
Comprehensive anti-virus protection
Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Business Optimal for Novell Netware is developed on the basis of client-server technology. The server subsystem - KaspÅrsky<® Scanner - combines functions of an anti-virus filter and an anti-virus scanner, i.e. checks files when they are opened or copied, and also launches the scanning operation on demand or as scheduled. The following two administration modules represent the client subsystem: a module for NWAdmin and a similar module for ConsoleOne.
Centralized deployment and management administration tools allow one to:
centrally install and control the software package components from any computer
define a timetable and an order in which the modules must be started
automatically retrieve and install anti-virus database updates via the Internet
broadcast notifications of virus attacks
review virus-check logs
Isolating potentially harmful objects
If the program detects infected or suspicious objects they can be moved to a predefined quarantine directory, where later a system administrator can study them.
Auto-retrieval of updates
This feature (for ConsoleOne) is implemented in the special module - Kaspersky® Updater - that allows for retrieval and deployment onto the protected network servers the anti-virus databases used by the scanner when it searches for viruses. You can customize Kaspersky® Updater to automatically update virus-definition databases, i.e. the program may be scheduled to automatically download updates and broadcast these to the supervised servers running Kaspersky® Anti-Virus.
Integration into Novell Directory Service
Since all the main features of Kaspersky® Anti-Virus for NetWare are completely integrated in NDS, it enables a network administrator to efficiently manage the program directly from the administrator console (NWAdmin or ConsoleOne).
Multithreaded virus scanning
Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Business Optimal for NetWare now supports multithreaded virus scanning that allows for an unlimited amount of files being scanned simultaneously in real-time. This amount is limited only by the server`s hardware configuration. The multithreaded virus scanning essentially increases the overall efficiency of the entire network by simultaneous processing of requests that arrived from many workstations at the same time.
